Determined in December

November has been a pretty stressful time. Not only have a been pushing really hard to make this year of medical school successful. I’ve been mucked about by student financing issues and working every other hour of the day to ensure I can be a medical school. It’s been a shame, because I was really looking forward to some of the things I had planned and I always thinks it’s sad that money has to determine the ability for people to experience things.

I’m determined to make December a good month for me. Whilst I’m working a lot, I’m doing shifts that are exciting and fun. There’s some events I’m really looking forward to working. I’m also going home for Christmas! I love Christmas, especially the last few years. It’s really exciting to spend some quality time with the family where none of us have to work as much as usual.

I am also working New Year’s Eve. Some people question this, but I absolutely love working New Year’s Eve. Not only is it double pay (bonus when your a student) but it’s always a great crowd of staff and I’ve had loads of fun working shifts like this over the years.

I am writing this post whilst listening to the Darkness play I believe in a thing called love. I’m doing it whilst having a peaceful work shift (no one hurt, everyone having a great time). It’s reminded me that December is about clearing out for the new year and reminding the people who mean the most to you how much you care for them. In December I am determined; this is going to be a better month for me. I am going to make the most of every moment.

December, being the last month of the year, cannot help but make us think of what is to come. – Fennel Hudson

Looking ahead to 2020 I am determined to get out of the grey cloud the end of 2019 has been for me. Thinking about the mistakes I made and the good changes that came about. Hoping that I can close December out by closing down all the issues I have and find some amazing opportunities for next year.

  1. Going to school and working full-time is a huge challenge and I really respect you for doing it AND keeping a bright outlook. That’s the great thing about the new year – it’s really just another day but it gives us the hope that we can make the next 365 great ones! Glad you’re getting to go home for Christmas – it’ll be a wonderful respite from your busy world. Best wishes to you for an amazing 2020!
