Small Steps, Big Impact: My Daily Commitment to Change in 2024

This year I’ve made no resolutions; I’ve committed to no big changes. Simply put, I’ve committed to doing something every day to make a positive change to my life. That’s how I plan to succeed in 2024.

This doesn’t mean I haven’t made any goals for 2024, I’ve made plans and goals. I do that yearly and focus on them each month they are relevant. But that’s something I have been doing for the last six months since I realised, I was simply coasting through life (but that’s a whole other post to come). What’s changed is I’ve stopped waiting to make big jumps and started taking a step up the ladder of change every day.

Why? Because its more achievable. It’s also more sustainable, it means that I have a positive form of growth that I can fit in around my hectic life and provides a positive change to my life dallying. This small bit of success every day is a big serotonin boost, makes the system more likely to sustain itself long term; ultimately, it becomes a habit.

How do I decided what to do every day?

Those monthly goals and focuses, they get formed into a list of things I want to achieve. Take my goal to reduce my clutter. I have always thrived on minimalism; I have found it a much more positive way of living my life and that I always thrive more when there’s less decision making and less surrounding me. Since I moved into my current home I’ve started accumulating and so 2024 I am getting back on top. So, I am currently decluttering my kitchen, cabinet by cabinet, and that’s all I do, one a day. It’s a small thing, doesn’t take up too much time it feels good to open that cabinet and see a clear space. Once I clean my kitchen, I will pick a new space. Once I’ve achieved that decluttering, I will pick a new goal.

Making big life changes is hard, and it’s even harder to sustain. But we are all capable of making small changes and sustaining small changes every day. You must have positive enforcement to be encouraged to keep changing and keep growing, and small successes everyday does that.  I would really encourage you to give it a go, trial it for 30 days and when you see the amount of change you are able to make without sacrificing too much time, you’ll be hooked on this process for the rest of 2024!
